Hey whats up yall,
My family being Asian loves to go to buffets...one in particular sticks out in my mind.....Hometown Buffet. They serve basically any time of food you could want! Italian, Mexican, Chinese, America, and so on...forever and ever.
Now, when I was a fatass kid I loved them! But I've grown to actually dislike these places because they push people of the slant eyed persuasion to really try and get your moneys worth, you don't have to tell me twice to eat as much as asianly possible....
Recently here in Malaysia turns out they love buffets here too!
great.
And its pirate themed! I laugh to myself about the gimmick nature of this feeding hole. WHOO
Thinking back to this idea of buffets it HITS me!
Our world (not just america) is on an express train w/o brakes the whole planet is obsessed with excess.
We spend more money than we have to, just to eat more than we need to, just to get fatter than we should be, and get so full you can't move, just to crap it all out in a few hours. Do it all again another day whoo!
vicious cycle
But we love excess don't we?
Thinking a little deeper leads me to consider other aspects of this thing we call "society"
Everyone wants the excess but as the law of scarcity shows not everyone can have it.
This leads to poor people and rich people and everyone inbetween. The haves and have nots. Classes. Separation.
So many people say they wanna end World Hunger and Poverty but how can you end these things when everyone is chasing down the latest cell phones, eating farm raised salmon fed with wild caught fish.
does that even effing make sense?@! With attitudes like this it's never. gonna. happen. ever.
It's not atomic bombs or a super virus thats gonna be the end for us....we're gonna EAT our world up and it's not gonna have enough to give.
we're all chasing the dream...cars, big houses, vegas vacations, and all you can eat sushi bars.
Eating ourselves out of house and home sooner rather than later and it's AVALANCHING around the world in developing countries with HUGE populations; China, India, Southeast Asia....
As First world nations WE must be the ones to set an example of sustainability and respect for our planet and scarce resources. Our atittudes shape the rest of the world. Because we understand. Because we already know what is going to happen.
But your saying "ahh i don't wanna be no role model!"
....too bad.
Cause they don't give a shit out here.
they are just falling into the dream...just tasting it. Trying anyway they can to get it.
Without care for tomorrow.
But tomorrow comes...
It always does.
